Shaky Isles at Etsy

In another life, I would design fabrics. I love the designs on this etsy vendor called Shaky Isles. Bright colors, bold folksy designs...all the stuff I love!

Handmade Journals and Pouches

We're excited to announce our first local artist selling wares at the store in O'Bryonville!

Kate Staiger crafts handmade books and pouches from recycled and upcycled materials.

Pieces of old hardcover books and found objects are sewn together to create new art objects. They contain blank, hand-cut paper inside, along with the occasional postcard or vintage bookplate. The books make lovely journals, and are a great gift paired with one of our pens--for around $20.

The pouches are great for keeping keys, cell phone, or lip gloss handy in your purse or bag. They are made of sturdy fabrics, and are embellished with buttons and hand-stitched designs. The pouches come in assorted sizes, and each design is entirely unique.

These items are available in-store only. Come in and check them out before they're gone!

Hatch Show Print

I finally took a detour through Nashville to visit the famous Hatch Show Print Studio. They are one of the oldest working letterpress studios in America. I have always heard that it is an impressive place to see, and I must say, I agree! Not only do they pretty much use the same presses that Gutenberg invented, one entire wall of the long and narrow studio is filled from floor to ceiling with most of the blocks used for famous posters for the Grand Ole Opry and many musicians since the late 1800's.

To learn a little about how famous posters of Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, and many more musicians, including more recent artists such as The Beastie Boys and Bruce Springsteen, watch this video.

Fall Leaves

The leaves are changing from green to the beautiful fall colors of oranges and reds. Here in Cincinnati, if it weren't for the color of leaves we might think it was winter already. It's darn cold out there!!

To celebrate the leaves, we are highlighting some of our leaf invitations. These invitations are available only through the Margot Madison Stationery retail location, though we can take your orders over the phone if you are not in the Cincinnati area. ENJOY!

Wedding Menu Idea

I just completed this menu job and thought it was worth posting as a different idea for wedding menus. The card peeks out of the napkin of each place setting. I like the modern simplicity and I am always a sucker for good typesetting...

This particular card was printed in-house with charcoal ink on a natural white cardstock. The final size is 4x6" and cost $1.10 each, plus a $25 design set-up charge. Of course, these are available at Margot Madison Stationery!

Welcome Neighbor "I-Do Boutique"

cake

Congratulations to Brigid Horne-Nestor and her crew at I-Do Boutique. They had their grand opening this week and we are so happy to have them in the O'Bryonville neighborhood. We are quickly becoming quite a little wedding district, I think!

Brigid has been an extraordinary wedding and event planner and I also know her as a Fairview parent (our kids go to the same German Magnet School in Cincinnati). The Boutique is darling decorated in bright pink and chartreuse green. The concept is to offer a "wedding library" for brides (free of charge) to browse and get some much needed answers and information about the best Cincinnati wedding vendors. The staff will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice.

Of course you will also see Margot Madison Stationery's binder (uh, when I bring it over) and you can also stop by our store when you're in the neighborhood!
