Apple Green and Mango

I love seeing these colors together. They're so perky and tropical and full of vibrancy! We've had the pleasure to do some fun invitations with these tropical and summery colors and I used it to create a color inspiration board. The green apple flower hair sticks are from stringmealong, the green damask table runner is from Darling Damask or Darling Occasions, the Adirondak Chair Sweet Silhouette half-notes are from the Margot Madison etsy shop. The flowers and table setting photos are from Brides.com Real Weddings section.

Creative Project #4-Stop Film Animation

I was so inspired by the adorable stop-film wedding invitation that was featured here on the Margot Madison Stationery blog 2 weeks ago! My daughter Natalie and I decided to give it a try for her book report project. The book was William Steig's "Sylvester and the Magic Pebble". We sketched out a quick storyboard, gathered our materials for the job and started filming. I used my point-and-shoot camera on the video setting, then selected the stop film animation setting for 10 second intervals. Then, for the next 2 hours, Natalie shifted each prop just slightly to created the story while I held the camera. We then used the iLife '09 versions of iMovie and GarageBand to slow down the film (otherwise it was only about 9 seconds total), add music (we used the Mary Jane's intro to the song Centurion, and looped it 3 times to add length), and create the title and end sequence. What a fun first project!! I can't wait to do more...

Stop-film animation is a form of filming where the camera takes still photos at regular intervals and then the video is animated by running these photos together. Current examples of this style are Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas, though this is essentially the original way films were created.

We're BACK ON!

The new Margot Madison Stationery webpage is finally uploaded and live. I've simplified the process greatly, since I wanted more control over the products sold on the site, as well as keep everyone connected to the new invitations and projects we are doing. The blog and my etsy store are quick links now and I can keep everything so much more up to date. Freedom!!

Thanks to Lindsay and Amber for working it out web-wise. Looking at those codes makes my brain go all dizzy-like....

A Wedding Invitation of another kind...

WOW!! My super cool web designer friend from Chicago gave me this link to a most amazing wedding invitation on Youtube (yes, Youtube). Being partial to paper, I did a little scoffing noise while the link loaded--paperless invitations? How gauche! I was quite entertained by the charming animation. Then I was so surprised when I realized that it was for a wedding in our own fair city of Cincinnati, in Ault Park. (It's funny, I thought that house looked familiar.) Congratulations Corey and Rachel for being the super creatives that you are (and on your nuptials, of course!). From what I understand, they created this with their stop photography setting on the camera and set it to the music. Awesome. Be inspired, folks!

Enamel Boards and More!

A great alternative to a boring bulletin board! We have magnetic enamel boards in chocolate brown and apple green, which you can personalize with ribbon, fun iPop magnets, and our Decorative Decals. We're offering 50% off a decal when you buy any enamel product! We also have matching small trays (great for jewelry, napkins, or desk clutter) and mini buckets. All of these look great with a monogram or printed decal.

Waldorf Gala 2010

I love this invitation because it is so different from my usual style! The Waldorf School is focused on whole child learning and this loose and free-form style seemed appropriate for their fundraiser dinner. Lots of fun!

Corporate Invitations

At Margot Madison Stationery, we're certainly not limited to everyday stationery and invitations. Here is a sample of a holiday party invitation we did for Mercy Hospital. It has a overlapping letterpress design and elegant typesetting. It will soon be a design available through Designer's Fine Press but is available of course from our storefront.
