Best in Show!!

WooHooo! Our garden invitation letterpressed on wood was awarded "Best in Show, Luxury Item" at the National Stationery Show in New York City this week. This is actually the first year in I think 8 that I didn't go to the Show of Shows in the stationery world. I missed being there but was so happy to be represented by Designers Fine Press, the letterpress printing company that features designs by Margot Madison as well as Cat Seto, Emily Gallardo of Gallardo Works and Alice Jacobs. I am also tickled that I beat out such stiff competition as Vera Wang, William Arthur, Smock and more. And again I say, "WooHoo". I think I get a trophy, which I will not be able to resist posting at a later date. ;o)

Rehearsal Dinner Details

This was another event brought to you by event designer Lindsey Huttenbauer from The Lindsey Baer Company. Together we created these cute name stickers which indicate whether the guest is associated with the bride/groom/or both using the stylized silhouettes in the background. The table numbers also coordinate with the silhouettes and we also created a custom photo "box" that surrounded the vase of flowers. Each side featured a photo collage of the bride and groom. Lindsey coordinated the event colors beautifully, using lavender, blue and green in the flowers (designed by Cincinnati's Robin Wood Flowers) to add spark to the navy blue linens. As all great event planners know: It's all in the details!

Orange Treasury

Check out this Orange collection from etsy! We are happy that the U-Pick Orange Damask clipboards were included in such a great line-up of products. And notice that Jack and Izzy got a mention too (see my previous blog entry and the Jack and Izzy store)!

You may or may not know that our product line is slowly shifting to our Margot Madison etsy on-line store. Now it's easy to offer the most up-to-date products we create.

Mini Moss Terrarium

I created this mini terrarium a month ago after seeing something similar on an etsy store. It was one of those things that you see and you know you should do it yourself. Usually, I don't ever DO those things but this time I actually did! I collected some moss from our farm property in Adams County, OH, put it in this great glass jar with some dirt on the bottom and stuck a rock in it.

Last weekend I was playing with some Sculpey clay and made the little mushrooms to "grow" with them. I thought it needed a splash of color and charm and now I love it even more. I think I have finally found a potted plant that thrives on my benign neglect....

Event Details

Since I've focused these last few postings on what Margot Madison Stationery can do in addition to the invitations, I offer this photo. These are some custom place tags we did for event designer Lindsey Huttenbauer for the Lindsey Baer Company. Love those bling napkin holders! The tag is hand written. Now, I'm no calligrapher, but I did practice my handwriting in lieu of social studies and other unimportant subjects ;o) all through school so if you're not expecting calligraphic perfection, then we can talk. Each tag was about $2.50.

Invitations and Beyond

You may know that at Margot Madison Creative Stationery, we create custom invitations for special occasions like weddings and bar/bat mitzvahs. You may not know that we can also help you carry the theme through to the other pieces of the event. This photo shows the custom invitation with the favor stickers and information booklet to match. While this particular style of paper is not available to us anymore, you can create a similar look with another one of our stock decorative papers.

Robotcha

This is what happens when great designers have kids! My friends in Chicago just started this entrepreneurial venture Robotcha and it just makes me giggle every time I look at these cool shirts. It might be because of those adorable kid models, or Shawn's talent at creating well-designed and humorous kids art, I don't know. It could also be because of the robot with ice cream fuel. In our house, where Madisono's gelato is king, these are going to be the ones we buy.
